How the website roast works
The roast loads your page in a real browser, looks at it the way a new visitor would and checks 8 areas while you watch. There is nothing to install and nobody to book a call with.
- Enter your website. Your homepage, or the page most of your visitors land on.
- Watch it load your page. It opens the page at phone size (375 pixels wide) and desktop size (1280 pixels wide) and shows the screenshots it took.
- See each check finish. Every check shows one thing it measured, such as how many buttons compete on the first mobile screen.
- Read the roast. The report says plainly what is wrong and how to fix it. It opens on screen and is emailed to you.
The free report has your overall score, all eight check scores and every finding in full, with how to fix each one.

What does a website roast call out?
A useful website roast calls out the things that cost you customers, not matters of taste. These are the kinds of problems the roast flags, each tied to one of its eight checks, with what it means for a visitor.
| Problem | What it means for a visitor | Check |
|---|---|---|
| A headline about you, not the visitor | They cannot tell what you offer or why it matters to them | First impressions |
| No button on the first phone screen | They have to hunt for the next step | Calls to action |
| Five links shouting at once | They do not know which one matters | Calls to action |
| A form that asks for everything | They give up halfway | Forms and friction |
| No reviews, guarantee or contact details near the decision | They have no reason to trust a stranger | Trust and credibility |
| Tiny text and buttons, sideways scrolling | The page fights them on a phone | Mobile experience |
| A slow first load | Some leave before seeing anything | Page performance |
| Price and policies only visible after scripts run | AI assistants and agents cannot read what you sell | AI visibility and agent readiness |
| Missing title, description or H1 | Search engines struggle to tell what the page is about | SEO fundamentals |
The roast runs the same eight checks as Convertica's free CRO audit. If you want a score first, the website grader leads with the numbers; for a page that ads or emails send people to, use the landing page analyzer.
How to roast your own website in five minutes
You can roast your own website by looking at it the way a stranger would: on a phone, in a private window, with five minutes and no prior knowledge. Ask these questions out loud and write down every answer that makes you wince.
- Five-second test: after five seconds on the first screen, can you say what you sell and who it is for?
- Next step: is there one obvious button, and does it say what happens when you tap it?
- Effort: how many fields, taps and pages stand between you and buying or booking?
- Trust: would you hand your card or phone number to this business, and why?
- Phone: did anything cover the page, scroll sideways or need zooming?
For a longer, structured version, follow the website audit guide, with eight steps and a checklist. If the site gets visitors but no sales, start with why your website is not converting.
What to do after your website roast
After a roast, fix the plain errors first, such as a form that fails on a phone or a button hidden below the first screen, then work through the rest from your lowest-scoring check. Test the bigger judgment calls, such as a new headline, against the current page where your traffic allows, and roast the page again after each round.
If you want the fixes built, Convertica's team builds every fix the audit found: the one page rebuild covers one page and the full site rebuild covers your whole site. Both are on the pricing page.
Roast my website FAQ
What does roast my website mean?
Roast my website is a request for honest, blunt feedback on a website: what is confusing, weak or broken, without polite padding. People post it in forums and use roast tools to get a fresh view of their site. Convertica's version is a free review that says plainly what costs you customers and how to fix it.
Is this website roast free?
Yes. The roast is free: you get every finding, with how to fix each one, plus a score out of 100 for each of the eight checks. It asks for your email when the report is ready, because the report is sent to you, with a few follow-ups you can unsubscribe from. There is no card and no call.
Is it a joke roast or real feedback?
Real feedback. The review is blunt about problems but does not make jokes at your expense. Each finding says what is wrong, why it costs you customers and what to change, so you can act on it rather than just read it.
What does the roast check?
It checks eight areas on one page: first impressions, calls to action, forms and friction, trust and credibility, mobile experience, page performance, AI visibility and agent readiness, and SEO fundamentals. It loads the page on a phone and a desktop, measures what it can and has an AI review judge what cannot be counted, such as whether the offer is clear.
Can a person roast my website instead?
The free roast is automated. If you want the fixes built rather than just listed, Convertica's team builds every fix the audit found with the one page rebuild or the full site rebuild. For work that does not fit those, the contact page takes requests for a bespoke proposal.
Can I roast a competitor's website?
Yes. The roast works on any public page, so you can review a competitor the same way as your own and compare the scores. It only reads what a new visitor could see without logging in, identifies itself to the site and does not try to get past bot checks.
